"Consistency is contrary to nature, contrary to life. The only completely consistent people are dead." -Aldous Huxley
When trying to decide how exactly to portray this message I decided to take a walk outside. The primary inspiration for this piece was the tree. The organic qualities of the tree reminded me of Aldous Huxley's quote. The bark, worn with age, looked perfect in it's imperfection. This is contrary to today's age when women assume that symmetry is beauty, perfection is a must. I wanted to emphasize that fact that in an age of plastic surgery, imperfections are what makes us human, alive, and beautiful.
